The Royal Exchange

The Royal Exchange was established  in 1566 as London's first purpose built centre for trading stock where it stood for a century until its destruction in 1666 in the Great Fire of London. Its second site was opened in 1669 where it thrived with merchants and brokers until it was destroyed again in a fire in 1838. The third, and current, Royal Exchange building was opened in 1844 by Queen Victoria. The building survived the blitz and was left in a state of disuse for decades before being temporary used as a theatre and briefly returning to its trading past. In 2001 The Royal Exchange was transformed into a luxury shopping centre and dining destination.

MSA produced a 3D scan and BIM model of the internal Atrium area. This will allow for continued improvements as the building looks to keep up to date with modern changes and keep its relevance and predominance as a key London landmark. MSA is delighted to be part of another step in the longstanding history of the building.
