Selfridges Building Birmingham
MSA MANCHESTER scans and models the iconic Selfridges building in Birmingham.
Forming part of the Bullring Shopping Centre the Selfridges building is an instantly recognisable landmark. The building is to undergo renovation which will see all of the iconic silver disks refurbished and the building made more ecofriendly. The design of the protective cladding by fashion designer Osman Yousefzada, provides a striking piece of public art that will surround the building while work is carried out. Scanning reflective discs and generating an accurate BIM model of a large freeform building was no small challenge nor was accurately locating each of the 15,335 discs.
