Case study

Battersea Power Station

Battersea Power Station, standing on the largest undeveloped riverside site in central London, is a national landmark.

Treasury Holdings plan to create a significant new urban quarter all within what will be the most sustainable development ever undertaken in Europe. This will see Battersea return to life as a power station, generating electricity through renewable sources. The site occupies 38 acres and is at the heart of Nine Elms.

MSA captured and analysed extensive data in and around the large area to create a 3D model which was central to the Rights of Light analysis and Accurate Visual Representations (AVR's). A large site and tight deadline made this a demanding but highly rewarding project.

Special Features

  • Delivered a Rights of Light survey in 4 weeks that should have taken 8

  • Building scan of entire Powerstation to 15mm resolution within 4 days and generation of an accurate 3D model which included all building deformations

  • Flexibility to extract further information such as the elevation detail of the Powerstation at a later stage if required without returning to site

  • Consistent data and significant cost savings achieved by appointing MSA early and using us for both surveys
